If you want an exciting, hands-on job then this is the place for you.  Burly Brand is looking for a R&D Technician to help develop new product lines and improve existing ones.  Burly Brand is a growth oriented company that is dedicated to new product development.  
Our applications range is focused on the American V-Twin.  We are a part of the Motorsport Aftermarket Group which includes Vance & Hines, Kuryakyn, J&P Cycles, Mustang Seats, Performance Machine, Renthal, Dragonfire Racing, Cycle News, MotorcycleUSA.com and Motorcycle Superstore.

Responsibilities:
  • Conceptualize new products for Burly Brand that align with consumer demands
  • Fabricate prototype’s for fitment/testing and team evaluation
    • Perform welding, cutting, bending, light machining, etc
    • Coordinate with machine shop to create prototype components   
    • Work closely with the engineering team throughout development
    • Verify products meet necessary design requirements
    • Transcribe products to be 3D modeled and drawn technically
    • Walk new products through the production release process
    • Lead projects from concept to production, coordinating with other teams when required
    • Complete necessary forms and project documentation, report project status throughout development
    • Work with suppliers to realize intended designs then coordinate samples and first article deliveries
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on motorcycle inventory
    • Perform product installations for marketing and promotional use
    • Build display bikes showcasing Burly Brand for trade shows, media articles, catalog shoots, etc.
    • Complete motorcycle tear downs and applications work
    • Remove and evaluate OE components, measure and document pertinent dimensions
    • Work with the applications department on model and year range evaluations
    • Perform product evaluations and occasional ride testing
    • Occasionally travel to local events, scouting product idea’s and staying current on market direction
    • Occasionally travel to transport motorcycles or conduct supplier visits
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: 
    • Broad knowledge of motorcycle industry and culture, connection to current consumer trends and demands in the V-twin arena and Burly Brand culture
    • Strong mechanical knowledge and ability- General and motorcycle specific
    • Metalworking & fabrication skills- Experience with welding, cutting, bending, grinding, light machining, etc
    • General knowledge of basic manufacturing processes and assembly techniques 
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
    • Ability to thoroughly manage multiple diverse projects 
    • Proficiency in MS office- Primarily Word, Excel, Project
    • Detail oriented with a passion for the motorcycle and customization industry
    • CA M1 motorcycle license
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Desired: 
  •   3d modeling- Solidworks, UG, AutoCAD, ProE, CATIA
    • • Ability to create technical component drawings
    • • Knowledge of precision measurement equipment- Calipers, micrometers, etc
    • • New product development experience, Motorcycle or aftermarket industry a plus
    • • Shock experience- Re-building, tuning, dyno evaluation, ride-testing
    • • Technical degree in related field or motorcycle mechanics training

    • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection is required. 
    • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional manufacturing equipment as found in a typical manufacturing environment.
